I wanted my tongue done (I have upwards of twenty mods that I got without parental permission) and so I sat my mother down and had a chat. My main points were that a) rather than being sneaky I was asking for permission, b) I'd pay for any and all things related, c) I'd take care of it properly, d) she wouldn't have to look at it (I don't know if that's the case for you, depends on hair length.)
